Professional Development Plan

PLO 2. Distinguish between various ethical codes within the mental health counseling and performance consulting professions, and articulate the rationale for disparities among them

Reviewing and reflecting upon on my professional development plan was helpful and is important to consider as I continue to move forward. My original professional development plan consists of building my own private practice, meeting with clients one-on-one to help them in athletic performance pursuits. I still desire to work one-on-one with athletes as I think this style aligns with my strengths and how I would like to help individuals. I’ve been thinking recently about how my style of consulting may fit best with athletes who are pursuing individual/group sports as opposed to team sports. I’ve participated in individual or group sports such as swimming and running which has influenced how I think I may work best with athletes. Working within team sports would be more of a challenge for me, which I am not opposed to, but I think it is more of a matter of preference. Topics that I am currently interested in are mindfulness training, education in eating disorders, international Olympic Sport Psychology, positive psychology, and psychology of sport injury.
